Singapore reports 451 new COVID-19 cases on May 19

The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 451 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of 12 pm on May 19. This takes the country’s tally of infections to 28,794.

Of the new cases, the vast majority are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, with 99 per cent of them linked to known clusters.

One new case was reported in the local community and is a Singaporean/Permanent Resident.

MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 6 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 3 per day in the past week. The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 2 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 1 per day in the past week.

Meanwhile, two clusters – NCS Hub (5 Ang Mo Kio Street 62) and CitiWall (34 Kaki Bukit Crescent) – have been closed as there had been no new cases for the past two incubation periods (28 days).

Singapore had reported a lower number of cases on Monday due to a testing laboratory reviewing its processes following an earlier apparatus calibration issue and requiring time before it can ramp up testing capabilities.
