Oman Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to visit India this week, hold bilateral discussions with PM Modi

Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will visit India with a high-level delegation on December 16, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement on Sunday (December 10, 2023).

He will be coming to India for the state visit at the invitation of Indian President Droupadi Murmu.

“This first state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to India marks a significant milestone in the diplomatic relations between India and the Sultanate of Oman,” read a statement issued by MEA.

“On 16 December 2023 His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will be received by President and the Prime Minister at the Rashtrapati Bhavan for a ceremonial welcome,” the statement said.

During his state visit, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will also host a luncheon in the former’s honour.

“India and Oman share a longstanding history of friendship and cooperation, built on the foundation of mutual trust and respect, and strong people-to-people ties going back centuries,” read the statement issued by MEA.

India and the Sultanate of Oman are strategic partners and the bilateral trade and investment relationship between the two nations has flourished over the years.
