Indian couple killed in Philippines, motive unclear

An Indian couple has been gunned down in Philippines’ Camarines Sur province by two bike-borne assailants.

According to reports, the couple identified as Bhagwant Singh Buttar, 45 and his wife Jaswinder Kaur 36, were residents of Sipocot town in the province. The two were killed by gunmen riding a bike.

The motive behind the murder is still not known. However, two pistols and live ammunition have been recovered from their possession and a case has also been registered.

This is not the first time that Indians have been attacked in a foreign country and above all in the Philippines. There have been many such attacks on Indians in the Philippines in the past.

The last incident was reported in August when a 26-years-old Indian was shot dead a couple of months before he was about to get married. The person belonged to Phagwara, Punjab.
