5 amazing halal restaurants around central area with incredible food

Cafe-hopping is a big thing among the young people in Singapore, and it's a headache situation when cafes are not halal because of the inconvenience it'll cause your Muslim friends in the group.

But Muslim-owned and halal-certified cafes are popping up around the island, and here's our pick!

1. Royz Et Vous

This French-inspired bistro cafe does the eggs royale – pretty much a cafe-hopping staple – really good. Besides that, we personally love the tender and juicy beef items on menu. They serve halal wine too 😉

Reservations are recommended because it's impossible to get a seat at mealtimes.

2. Fika

Muslim Swedish cuisine? Sure! And of course you have to order their meatballs – it's juicy with every bite, and definitely comfort food material on rainy afternoons over fika.

Fika is a Swedish word/concept, and it means to share a cup of coffee (or tea) – not literally – with colleagues or friends, and this trend has been catching on in Singapore.

3. Krave

With an extensive menu of Malay-Western cuisine, Krave will bring pleasant little surprises to your taste buds.

An interesting dessert served here is the Chempedak Crème Brûlée ("chempedak" is jackfruit). The fruity flavour goes well with burnt sugar, and the texture is rich and creamy.

4. Hyde & Co.

The clean minimalist interior of Hyde & Co. exudes a calming vibe, and they are well-known for their pancakes and tea sets.

Iced teas are a must-try – just be sure to get ready your cameras because they come in really pretty presentations.

5. The Lab SG

As the name suggests, this cafe is all about test-tubes and experiments. The cafe-deco will make a picture-perfect Instagram post, after which you can tuck into the juicy shrimp aglio oglio (highly recommend!).
