1. Singapore Vegan Festival

The inaugural Singapore Vegan Festival aims to showcase that vegan doesn't mean boring, and that vegan food can be fabulous and varied.

With reputable restaurants like Mikuni, Blu Kouzina, Yantra – Defining Indian Cuisine, The Peranakan, Well Dressed Salad Bar & Cafe, Sufood Singapore and The Living Cafe putting their best vegan foot forward, expect to be wowed by a plethora of food experiences ranging across cultures and cuisines. From local delights to vegan Biryani to fine Japanese, Indian and Greek Food, SVF will have it all.

2. Biggest Bollywood Dandiya Night 2019

The biggest and most popular annual Bollywood Dandiya Dance festival night of Singapore is back with the added concept of the twirling graceful moves of Bollywood ghoomar. To be held at Chinese Swimming Club (Patro's Grand Ball Room), the night will feature live music by Anand and Urja Dhamelia, DJ Milan, live Dhol, festive food and lots of fun!

3. Basic food photography workshop

Whether you are new to food photography or are looking to improve your food images and take your photography to the next level, this is the workshop for you!

Participants will explore topics such as DSLR camera essentials, lighting, color, and composition to learn how to make delicious food look even better with great photographs. This workshop will include at least three different setups that will be photographed using natural lighting. There will be step-by- step demos, as well as hands-on practice.

4. Karagam

An ancient dance form performed in honor and praise of rain goddess Mariamman, Karagam dates back to at least 100 years of existence. The Karagam presentation by AK Theatre, to be held in Esplanade Annexe Studio, is a reconstruction of the glorious art form for today’s generation.

5. The Orang Laut in the Realm of the Straits (Negara Selat)

With their intimate knowledge of the seas, proficiency in navigating the waters and expertise in the collection of sea products, the Orang Laut (Sea People) have been indispensable to the success of any Malay kingdom. Yet why has their role been largely forgotten?

Professor of Southeast Asian history Dr Leonard Andaya will examine the historical evidence in an effort to restore the Orang Laut to their rightful place as major players in the history of the Straits from early times to the 19th century. This programme is held in conjunction with the upcoming exhibition On Paper: Singapore Before 1867.
