Raffles Hotel Singapore announced the launch of a Peruvian-themed afternoon tea experience at The Grand Lobby. From August 29 to November 30, 2022, the flavours of Peru inspired by the country’s colourful and vibrant gastronomic traditions will be available for all.
The Peru Afternoon Tea will be presented on a three-tier silver stand, comprising a selection of exquisite savouries. Indulge in Pan Con Chicharrón, a favourite classic of Peruvian cuisine which features a unique sandwich combination of pork, sweet potato, tied together with a refreshing topping of crisp red onion relish. Bite into the tender Peruvian-style Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Spicy Green Jalapeno Sauce, perfectly seasoned with garlic, herbs, and spices elevated by grilling. Embark on a journey to Vinicunca with Triple Sandwich with Egg, Tomato & Avocado, reflecting colours of the famous Rainbow Mountain in Peru.
A delectable selection of classic Peruvian sweet treats by Executive Pastry Chef Tai Chien Lin increases the variety. Uncover the rich history of Peru with Picarones, traditional Peruvian doughnuts with made with squash and sweet potato with a crispy exterior paired with a delicious coating of syrup. The specially curated creations also include Peruvian Strawberry Jelly Cake, a one-of-a-kind dessert from Peru featuring layers of jelly and fluffy cake, brought altogether with Chantilly, as well as a caramel like pudding, Suspiro de Limeña, with origins from Lima. Other desserts include the Dulce de Leche Roll Cake, an elevated roll cake that is layered with creamy milk caramel filling, and the Torta Chocolate Cake with 65% Alto El Sol, a classic chocolate cake made with rich and quality chocolate from Alto El Sol plantation, a small estate located in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon jungle.
The Peru Afternoon Tea comes with The Grand Lobby’s home-made original and raisin scones served with clotted cream, and signature strawberry rose jam. To complete the entire experience, guests may choose to accompany this spread with either a choice of 'Mariage Frères' loose tea leaves or Raffles custom blended coffee beans.
The Peru Afternoon Tea experience is priced at SGD 88 per guest and will be offered alongside the signature Classic Afternoon Tea. The thematic experience is part of The Grand Lobby’s afternoon tea offering, based on cuisines from selected distinctive cities around the world.
