Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 262 new cases of COVID-19 infection in Singapore as of 12pm on Sunday, June 21, bringing the national total to 42,095.
Majority of the new cases continue to be among foreign workers residing in dormitories.
In a press statement, MOH said there were ten cases in the local community. Three of them were Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, another three were Work Pass holders, and the remaining four were Work Permit holders.
Among the three Singaporean/Permanent Resident cases, one was tested as part of proactive screening of students at Institutes of Higher Learning who are diagnosed with acute respiratory infection (ARI) at first presentation to a doctor.
He is a student at Nanyang Technological University, but has not gone to the university since early April 2020.
The remaining two cases had been detected due to our proactive surveillance of persons working or living at dormitories, even though they are asymptomatic.
