The Ministry of Health has reported 125 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of 12 pm on July 9. This takes the national tally of infections to 45,423.
The vast majority of the new cases continue to be Work Permit Holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
There is an imported case involving a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned to Singapore from India on June 23. She had been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and had been tested while serving SHN.
There are also 21 cases in the community, of whom four are Singaporeans/ Permanent Residents and 17 are Work Pass holders.
10 of the community cases are linked to previous cases or clusters. Of these, five had been identified as contacts of previously confirmed cases, and had been tested during their quarantine to determine their status. The remaining five are all asymptomatic, and were detected as a result of our proactive screening of workers in essential services.
