Billionaire Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced his achievement of securing a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on social media, which once again sparked speculation of a 'cage match' with Elon Musk.
Zuckerberg shared a post on Instagram with numerous pictures to share the update about his recent feat.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu consists of five different belt colours, starting from white and progressing to blue, purple, brown, and finally, the black belt, which is considered the most prestigious. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Zuckerberg began training himself in mixed martial arts and Brazilian jiu-jitsu and completed his first tournament in May 2023.
Zuckerberg’s post reignited buzz online about his potential ‘cage match’ with Tesla and X owner Elon Musk.
Musk began feuding with and challenged Zuckerberg after reports emerged that Instagram was working on a Twitter competitor. Zuckerberg reportedly agreed to a cage match.
According to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White, both men are "dead serious" about the fight.
Their exchanges have gone viral with social media users debating who would win the bout, while others have posted memes including mocked up posters advertising the fight.
Meta’s recent launch of its ‘Threads’ app, in direct competition with the erstwhile Twitter, is seen as the major reason for the two magnates’ recent tough talk on social media. They have both been publicly at-odds for years and even the suggestion of a physical brawl between the two tech titans has created a major upheaval in the virtual world.
Several simulations have gone viral on Twitter in which AI-generated and morphed videos show both the tech titans fighting each other. Fighting video games are available online in which both Musk and Zuckerberg feature as characters.
