Anushka Sharma re-dons the producer’s hat for her home production’Phillauri’. The trailer of the film is recently out and has garnered 12,715,280 views in just a week. Bollywood who’s who like Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh, Mahira Khan, Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal, Dia Mirza, and Badshah have not only liked but also shared the ‘Phillauri’ trailer on social media.
Playing the role of Shashi - an adorable, friendly ghost, Anushka is following the footsteps of A-listers like Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan who have played ghosts in hits like ‘Bhootnath’ and ‘Hello Brother’.
The film revolves around a spirit Shashi – the friendly spirit who narrates her unique story of how it will take a crazy Punjabi wedding, rank strangers and more than a lifetime to complete a love story.
Set in Punjab, ‘Phillauri’ is directed by Anshai Lal and produced by Fox Star Studios. The film stars Anushka Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada. The film is set to hit the screens on March 24, 2017.
An adaptation of the short story ‘The Canterville Ghost’, Bhootnath revolved around a small kid Banku (played by Aman Siddiqui) and his ghost friend Bhootnath (played by Amitabh Bachchan). The film received rave reviews from the audience and the critics alike and was a success at the box office. Bhootnath, which released in the year 2008 starred Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Amitabh Bachchan, Aman Siddiqui. The sequel of the film titled as ‘Bhootnath Returns’ was also released in April 2014. Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan reprised their roles with SRK having a just cameo appearance. The film did well at the box office and was one of the highest grosser of the year.
Inspired by the Malayalam film ‘Aayushkalam’, ‘Hello Brother’ was directed by Sohail Khan and starred Salman Khan as ghost along with Arbaaz Khan and Rani Mukerji in lead roles. The film revolves around Hero (played by Salman Khan) who’s heart is transplanted into Vishal’s body (played by Arbaaz Khan). How their life takes a turn and how Vishal complete Hero’s pending tasks is what the story is all about. The film was not only a hit but it also was the first film to take part in merchandising.
