At least three people were killed as a bus ran over them in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada city on Monday (November 6, 2023). The freak accident took place at the Pandit Nehru Bus Station.
Visuals of the horrifying incident, captured on CCTV cameras, have now gone viral on the Internet.
It showed people waiting at the busy facility as a fleet of buses stood parked. A woman is seen walking when a bus starts to move towards her. Unable to control the vehicle, the driver unwittingly rams the barricade and ploughs over the others.
The impact not only killed three people, but also accounted for the injury of several others. Fortunately, those inside the bus escaped unhurt, as per reports.
Meanwhile, the incident left people in a state of panic as passengers ran helter-skelter in an effort to evade the tragedy.
The deaths were mourned by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh (approx. USD 12000) to the families of the deceased.
Reddy also directed his officials to provide robust aid to those injured.
