Non-resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Indians (OIs), or persons of Indian origin (PIO's), are the acronyms used to adress people of Indian birth, descent or origin who live outside the Republic of India. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, the population of NRIs and PIOs is approx 36 million.
