Dental care medtech company SmileDirectClub, a US-based teledentistry pioneer, has opened a new convenient SmileShop location for Singaporeans in partnership with Nuffield Dental Holdings on Orchard Road.
The Wheelock Place location offers the same digital clear aligner treatment process as existing shops at HarbourFront Centre and One Raffles Place Mall that opened during the summer of 2020.
“2020 has not been an easy ride, but it reinforced the global need for innovative telehealth solutions that increase access to safe and effective care, like SmileDirectClub’s teledentistry platform,” said Kay Oswald, president of International at SmileDirectClub.
Nuffield Dental Holdings is a multi-disciplinary dental group, founded by Dr Samintharaj Kumar.
“At Nuffield Dental Jewel, our patients are busy Singaporeans focused on a holistic approach to personal wellness and oral care, making them perfect candidates for clear aligner treatment,” he said.
The SmileGuides process includes creating a digital image of the customer’s teeth using 3D scanning technology and an in-person consultation with a Singapore registered dentist or orthodontist after the scan. Once the orthodontist approves the treatment plan, it is sent to customers virtually for final confirmation.
Custom-prescribed SmileDirectClub aligners are then manufactured in FDA-registered and certified US manufacturing facilities. Each customer’s aligners are shipped directly to their door. An assigned Singapore registered dentist or orthodontist will have regular virtual check-ins with the customer, guiding each treatment remotely from beginning to end for an average of 4-6months.
