Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed an additional 657 cases of COVID-19 infection as of 12pm on Sunday, May 3, bringing the national tally to 18,205.
Majority of the cases continue to be Work Permit holders residing in dormitories, including in factory-converted dormitories. The increase is due to extensive testing in these premises, MOH said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, there are 13 new cases in the local community on May 3, including 10 Singaporeans/Permanent Residents.
MOH noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased – from an average of 21 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 11 per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 13 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 5 per day in the past week.
Singapore also reported its 18th fatality from the illness. Case 14744, an 86 year-old female Singapore Citizen, has passed away on May 3 from complications due to COVID-19 infection.
She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on April 27, and had a history of diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidaemia.
