Singapore clocks 22 fresh COVID-19 cases

Singapore today reported 22 new COVID-19 infections, pushing the country's cumulative tally to 62,470, health officials said. 

The health ministry further said that eight persons of the linked cases have been quarantined, while the remaining one was detected with the help of technical surveillance.

Officials said that out of the 22 fresh cases, 13 are in the community, while nine are imported. 

The 13 community infections include three unlinked cases. whereas the remaining are linked to the existing cases.

The health ministry further said that eight persons of the linked cases have been quarantined, while the remaining one was detected with the help of technical surveillance. 

Of the nine imported cases, four were returnees or residents of the country. Meanwhile, all of the passengers have isolated on arrival, officials said. 

Yesterday, 142 infected people were admitted to various facilities, while 173 are still recovering in community centres.  As many as 35 patients have succumbed to COVID complications in Singapore, while 15 others died due to other causes, officials added.
