Sachin Tendulkar’s guard fatally shoots himself in Maharashtra

A man who worked as the security guard of global cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, has allegedly shot himself to death on Wednesday. As per reports, the incident took place in Jamner in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district at 1:30 am.

The deceased was identified as Prakash Kapde, 39, a State Reserve Police Force jawan. Kapde was assigned to protect Tendulkar. As per Hindustan Times, the 39-year-old used his service gun to take his own life while visiting his hometown. Kapde shot himself in the neck.

While the motive behind the alleged suicide remains unclear so far, an investigation is underway to find the reasons behind the jawan’s actions.

Meanwhile, Kapde’s body has been sent for a postmortem examination.

Jamner Police has filed an accidental death report. Police are also quizzing relatives, close aides and colleagues of the deceased to ascertain the reason of his death.

The deceased is survived by his wife, two young children, elderly parents, a brother, and other relatives.
