Roadshows to familiarise homeowners about their new abodes

To help flat owners about the various facilities being offered in their new homes, Housing and Development Board (HDB) has decided to organise roadshows for all their Build-To-Order (BTO) projects. The initiative has been taken following a year-long pilot.

Christened ‘MyNiceHome Roadshow’, it provides new house owners to meet their future neighbours as well as pick up renovation tips and advice on home maintenance prior to moving into their flats. They also get to learn more about their new estate and about the various key facilities in that particular estate. There have been 24 roadshows attended by 27,100 homeowners till now.

From now on, new homeowners can register for these bus tours on a first come, first served basis.

There are about 10 roadshows also in the pipeline expected to be held this year. They are co-organised by the People’s Association and its grassroots organisations and are usually held about three to six months before the completion of a BTO development.

The HDB said homeowners who have attended the roadshows found the session useful in helping them to settle in their new living environment.

It found that seven in 10 said they picked up home design and renovation advice to prepare for their move, while eight in 10 found that the roadshows gave them a better idea of the amenities and transport network in their estate.

“Overall, the roadshows have helped to familiarise flat owners with their new homes and neighbourhood, while strengthening neighbourly ties from the onset,” said the HDB.
