Addressing journalists at BJP’s Diwali celebration programme, he said “The looming threat of Deepfake has become a great concern and can create a lot of problems.”

Modi said he recently saw a video where he was singing a garba song.

“I recently saw a video in which I was seen singing a Garba song. There are many other such videos online,” he said.

The PM said that he has asked the ChatGPT team to flag deepfakes and issue a warning when such videos are circulated on the internet.

“During the times of Artificial Intelligence, it is important that technology should be used responsibly,” he added.

Modi’s remarks come after deepfake videos – with morphed faces of actor Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif and Kajol- surfaced on social media, evoking huge outrage.

He also urged members of the media to educate the public about the adverse consequences associated with artificial intelligence.
