NTUC FairPrice Finest at Bedok Mall closes temporarily after employee tests positive for COVID-19

NTUC FairPrice on Wednesday, April 1 announced the temporary closure of its FairPrice Finest outlet at Bedok Mall (311 New Upper Changi Road) after one of its employees was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 31. 

The store will be closed for three days, for deep cleaning procedures, in line with the National Environment Agency’s guidelines to disinfect the premises and will re-open on Saturday, April 4.

In a statement, FairPrice said that in accordance with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines, the infected staff member has since been quarantined and is being monitored by medical personnel while all staff who work in that store have been put on leave of absence.

As per the statement, the affected staffer worked in the backend, replenishing stock and had minimal contact with customers. The employee was last at work on March 25, was on leave on March 26 and visited the doctor on March 27 with a fever. The employee has since been on medical leave. 

In its statement FairPrice also reiterated the measures it has put in place in its stores since the outbreak of COVID-19, which include stepping up of cleaning regimes, especially for high touch surfaces like railings, trolleys, baskets, checkout counters every four hours, staff and suppliers temperature being taken at least twice a day, hand sanitisers for customers as well as maintenance of safe distancing.
