The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday recovered a huge amount of cash from the domestic help of Sanjiv Lal, who is the personal secretary to Jharkhand Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam in Ranchi, media reports said.

Videos of the raid have now gone viral on the Internet. As shown in the videos, a huge pile of “unaccounted cash” was recovered from the premise allegedly linked to the household help of Lal, the PS to Alam, who is a Congress MLA from Pakur, in connection with the Virendra Ram case.

The counting of cash is still ongoing. As per the latest report, more than INR 20 crore (USD 2,395,942) has been counted.

The raids took place in connection with an ongoing probe into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of certain schemes in the Rural Development Department.

The ED conducted raids at multiple locations in the state capital in connection with the probe into a money laundering case linked to arrested former chief engineer of the Rural Development Department, Virendra Kumar Ram.

Ram was arrested by the ED on February 21, 2023 after the probe agency conducted multiple raids in Ranchi, Jamshedpur and a few other places.
