Mediacorp first in SEA to secure Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 broadcast rights

Mediacorp has obtained sole rights in Singapore to broadcast Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 (Tokyo 2020) and the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 (Beijing 2022).

It is also the first media company in Southeast Asia to do so, Mediacorp said in a press statement on Tuesday, March 19. 

Tokyo 2020, featuring 33 different sports in 339 events, is scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 9, 2020. Meanwhile, Beijing 2022 will take place from February 4 to 20, 2022; and will feature seven new events for a total of 109 events.

Mediacorp will deliver multi-platform coverage live, delayed and via catch up, on television, digitally, over radio, on outdoor displays, as well as on social media.

Mediacorp has also clinched the broadcast rights to the next two upcoming Youth Olympic Games: Youth Olympic Winter Games Lausanne 2020, which will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland between January 9 to 22, and Youth Olympic Games Dakar 2022 which will be held in Dakar, Senegal.
