Sharing her experiences with Connected to India on phone from Mumbai, Kriti said it was amazing working with Shah Rukh Khan in Dilwale (2015). “Though I was nervous but he is someone who makes you feel very comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed that I learnt so much from him. It was a great experience,” she said.

An engineering graduate in electronics, the actor said her character in Bareilly Ki Barfi has not much similarity with her in real life but she is much more like her when it’s about living life on own terms.

Kriti said, “I am anyways not like her, though I have some extent of outspoken character but not like Bitti. I am also a little more girly when it comes to my body language, the way I am and the way I talk. But I relate to her mind, she lives in a small town but she is very broad minded. She questions everything. I can do it. The fact that she lives her life on her own terms is something I can relate to.”

Talking in detail about her character in the film, Kriti elaborated, “I am playing the role of Bitti, who gets a book written about a girl who is exactly like her in the movie and she is fascinated by writer’s description about the character. She is the one who is very outspoken, does break dance, smokes and drinks sometimes. She is a very carefree girl who lives life on her own terms.”

The actor who debuted in Bollywood with Heropanti (2014), spoke about her experience of working with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao. She said, “It was fabulous to work with them. Both of them are such talented actors. They bring something new to the table. When you are acting, your performance becomes better when your co-actor is very good. I had a blast working with both of them, it was so much collaborated when it comes to doing scenes, it wasn’t like what I am doing or what you are doing. It was about what we are doing together.”

Kriti, who started doing modelling in the second year of her graduation, said she realized she could act and enjoy it while doing a TV commercial. She added, “I enjoy the process of shooting, so after doing commercials I started to think of becoming an actor. After I finished my engineering, I moved to Mumbai.”

Asking about her views on nepotism, she said, “Nepotism does exist. It just not exists in Bollywood but exists in every field. Business man’s son becomes businessman and doctor’s son becomes a doctor, a little more easily. Being an outsider, I do feel that someone who comes from a filmy family can probably get first chance or film little more easily. When you are not from filmy family, it takes a little longer to connect to the audience and initial few years can be struggling when it comes to creating a place in the industry. But there are people who are not from the background and still doing amazingly better like Deepika, Anushka, Priyanka. In fact, three of the actors from Bareilly Ki Barfi are not from the filmy background.”
