The Kerala native, who is currently residing in Israel, shared that she threw away the slippers and held the door handle tightly to prevent the militants from getting inside.

Narrating her ordeal, Sabitha said the militants were trying every bit to kill her.

A video posted by the official X handle of Israel in India reads, "Listen to this story of Ms Sabitha, a caregiver from Kerala, as she shares how she and Meera Mohanan saved the Israeli civilians they were taking care of by holding the door handle & preventing the Hamas Terrorists from bursting in & killing them."

Sabitha, who is working at the Israeli border for three years, said, "It was my night duty and I was about to take my rest leave. At 6:30, we heard the sirens, we ran to the safety room. It was non-stop. Suddenly got a call from the daughter (of the woman for whom she works) saying that things are out of our hand. We didn't know what to do. She asked us to lock the front and back doors… Within few minutes, we heard the terrorists breaking into our house shooting and breaking the glasses."

Sabitha stated that she called the daughter (of the woman for whom she works) who advised her to hold the doors as things were out of control.

"We were there half-an-hour hanging on the doors," she added.

Sabitha said that the house was completely destroyed by the Hamas militants who attacked Israel on October 7.

The death toll in Israel remains at about 1,300, with most of them killed in the surprise attacks on southern communities.

The total number of fatalities in Gaza, where Israel has counterattacked, has reached at least 3,000 in the 11-day ongoing war, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Israel, Hamas trade blame as hundreds die in Gaza hospital blast

Meanwhile, at least 500 people are believed to have died after a blast ripped through Al-Ahli Arabi Baptist Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday (October 17).

Gaza's health ministry said the airstrike was carried out by Israel while the Israeli military said the Islamic Jihad organisation is responsible for the "failed shooting" that targeted Israel, Xinhua reported.

A doctor, who was present in the hospital at the time of the blast, told BBC there was total devastation at the scene of the attack – where some 4,000 displaced persons were seeking refuge.
