IndianRaga features kids’ choir from Chennai singing Gandhiji’s favourite bhajan

IndianRaga partnered with the NalandaWay Foundation to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with the Chennai Children's Choir's Carnatic-fusion take on his favourite bhajan Vaishnava Jana To, a classic penned by Narsinh Mehta.

Chennai Children’s Choir (CCC) is a singing group of children from disadvantaged homes in Chennai formed under an initiative of the NalandaWay Foundation. They've sung in many languages and performed on many stages, including at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC for the Serenade Choral Festival.

"That's what caught the attention of Indian Raga," said founder Sriram Emani. "All these children hail from widely underprivileged or challenged backgrounds but what unites them is a love for music. We are trying to lend a voice to these kids and support them to be able to raise funds and tour internationally."

Their rendition of Gandhiji's favourite song, 'Vaishnava Janato', was released worldwide on the Indian Raga Channel.
