The brilliant student, Meghna Savit, scored 98.4 per cent in the Science stream. She also set a new record in the Indian High School (IHS) by becoming the first girl to achieve such high marks. Examination results in 2015 and 2016 of the school saw two female students score 98 per cent in the Science stream, but Savit has now beaten that record.

Indian High School also made the announcement on Twitter.

Revealing her joy to a Dubai-based newspaper, Savit said , “I still can't believe I am the  country's topper.”

She added, “My father actually broke the news to me at about 10 am today. I was taking a shower but when he told me the score, I thought he was kidding.”

She said the "sense of surprise" continued as she received a call from her school, declaring her the UAE's highest topper in the CBSE exams.

Her father joked, “I just kept checking and checking to make sure it was right. Being called to the principal's office is always daunting, but this time it was for a very good reason.”

Asked about her future plans, the bright student replied, “I plan on going to India to get admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) or the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)."However, her long-term dream is to become the founder of her own start-up.

There were about 2,000 Intermediate students who appeared in the CBSE Board exam this year in UAE.
