The Indian Army conducted a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Tuesday when it seized around 3,300 kg of drugs from a ship near Gujarat’s Porbandar.

It is one of the biggest drug seizures conducted by the Indian Navy in recent times.

The Indian Navy said a small ship was intercepted and over 3,089 kg of charas (hashish), 158 kg of methamphetamine and 25 kg of morphine were recovered from it.

The ship’s five crew, all Pakistani nationals, have been arrested, reported NDTV.

The Indian Navy Spokesperson posted on X: “#IndianNavy in a coordinated ops with Narcotics Control Bureau, apprehended a suspicious dhow carrying almost 3300Kgs contraband (3,089 Kgs Charas, 158 Kgs Methamphetamine 25 Kgs Morphine). The largest seizure of narcotics, in quantity in recent times.”

“This seizure of drugs is by far the largest in terms of quantity, & was possible through #collaborative efforts of #IndianNavy’s #missiondeployed assets with the NCB. The contraband, apprehended boat & crew handed over to the Law Enforcement Agencies at an Indian port #27Feb 24,” the post further said.
