India Energy Week, the annual platform for global stakeholders in the energy sector, returns for its 2024 edition to Goa (February 6 to 9).

The theme of ‘Growth. Collaboration. Transition’ for the 2024 exhibition-cum-conference captures the essence of what energy means for India — the sector needs to grow to fuel the ambition of a USD 5 trillion economy; it needs to have a collaborative approach to sustainably optimise the energy output; and it needs to accelerate the transition to green energy.

“To power our rapid growth, India is exploring new pathways to meet spiking energy demand domestically and internationally, while ensuring our transition to net-zero. Our multi-pronged strategy to diversify our energy mix safely and sustainably will see India transition to a gas-based economy, bolstered by alternative energy sources, including renewables, biofuels, and green hydrogen,” read a statement from Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, in a report published ahead of India Energy Week 2024.

The event website said: “Building on the success of the 2023 edition, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, India Energy Week 2024 returns from 6 – 9 February 2024 in Goa, India.

“Held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, and officially supported by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), India Energy Week 2024 will be India’s largest and only all-encompassing energy exhibition and conference, bringing together the entire energy value chain, and will serve as a catalyst for India’s energy transition goals.

“Welcoming over 35,000 attendees, 350 exhibitors, 400 speakers and 4,000+ delegates, from over 100 countries, India Energy Week will be a truly global gathering, convening policymakers, business leaders and energy pioneers to collaborate, discover new opportunities and strengthen partnerships.”

Major platform for global energy players

India Energy Week is a major platform for global energy players, because the country’s economy has so much headroom for growth, and national policy is oriented towards making this a green growth story. That offers global energy giants and even smaller entities an opportunity to invest in India, and in turn benefit from investments made by the Government of India.

“To meet India’s goals of providing secure, accessible, affordable, and sustainable energy, substantial investments will be directed across the entire energy supply chain. These investments offer unparalleled opportunities for the global energy community to contribute to transforming one of the world’s most crucial energy markets,” said the report.

Exhibition and Conferences

India Energy Week 2024 is divided into two broad sections: exhibition and conferences. Together, they give participants the opportunity to showcase their work in the energy sector; connect with others; and gather knowledge from the top industry names in the speakers’ line-up.

Exhibition

The report said: “With over 350 companies, the exhibition will act as a platform to connect the global energy industry with decision-makers from across India’s energy value chain. A global marketplace showcasing the technologies and services shaping the energy systems of the future, India Energy Week will enable buyers and sellers to meet, network and do business.”

Conferences

The report said: “The India Energy Week conferences will serve as a premier platform for extensive discussions and knowledge exchange, hosting over 400 speakers and 4,000 delegates. The ‘Strategic Conference’ will bring together ministers, global CEOs, and influential business leaders to deliberate on the trends shaping the future of energy. The ‘Technical Conference’ will showcase energy experts and pioneers who will share their technical expertise, innovative research, and industry best practices.”
