Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone’s high-octane aerial thriller makes USD 2.6 million at Indian BO on opening day

Hrithik Roshan’s comeback high adrenaline patriotic movie ‘Fighter’ earned Rs. 22 crore (USD 2,647,466) at the Indian Box Office on Thursday (January 25, 2024).

The movie, which featured Bollywood's heartthrobs Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone for the first time, is expected to record a spike in Box Office collection over the extended weekend which began on Friday with Republic Day celebrations.

The movie, which featured Bollywood’s heartthrobs Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone for the first time, is expected to record a spike in Box Office collection over the extended weekend which began on Friday with Republic Day celebrations.

“Fighter earned 22.00 Cr India net on its first day for all languages (early estimates),” read Sacnilk analyst website.

The expectations are high from the action-thriller which is also the first major release of the year.

Interestingly, the film has references to 2019 Pulwama attack, 2019 Balakot airstrike and 2019 India–Pakistan border skirmishes

Roshan, Padukone and Anil Kapoor play the IAF officers in the film which promises to fly high based on its strong stunt actions, Hrithik Roshan’s charisma, and some powerful performances by the female lead.

The film is released on the occasion of the country’s Republic Day (January 26).

Fighter director Siddharth Anand had previously cast Roshan in two of his films, Bang Bang and War, while Padukone worked with him in Bachna Ae Haseeno and ‘Pathaan’.
