General Hospital actor Tyler Christopher passes away, aged 50

Actor Tyler Christopher, who is remembered for his performance in General Hospital, has died after suffering a cardiac arrest.

He was 50.

Christopher’s representative Chi Muoi Lo told CNN in a statement that the actor died Tuesday (October 31, 2023) morning.

“This news was incredibly shocking, and I am devastated by his loss. He was a very gifted actor, and more importantly, an amazing friend. My heart goes out to his friends and family who loved him so much,” the statement read.

Remembering the actor, his former co-star Maurice Bernard wrote on Instagram: “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”

“Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting,” read the post.

“Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him. Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father,” his former co-star further wrote.

General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini told PEOPLE in a statement: “I am heartbroken over the news of Tyler Christopher’s passing. He was kind, an incredible actor, and dear friend, who was beloved by our GH family and fans of Nikolas Cassadine.”

Tyler Christopher was best known for his roles as Nikolas Cassadine and Connor Bishop on the ABC soap opera General Hospital.

In August 2017, it was announced that Christopher would be joining the cast of the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives as the son of long-time villains Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain. His tenure on the show began December 29, 2017.

Christopher left the series on March 20, 2019; his role was recast with Brandon Barash.
