Join celebrated dancer Mythili Prakash and her brother, talented musician Aditya Prakash, at the Esplanade theaters this weekend, as they bring their newest production Mara – The Mastermind to our shores.
This is the first time ever that the production is being performed overseas.
The True Colours Festival is also happening this weekend at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The inaugural event celebrates artists with disabilities with a myriad of fun and meaningful activities.

Moving away from traditional plot structures, MARA explores the journey of the individual (Jeeva), as she negotiates the dangerous, dazzling maze that is the human mind (Mara). Mara, the demon who infamously attempted to entice Buddha, continues to distract humans from discovering what lies beyond worldly pleasures, the pursuit of true inner freedom. Can Jeeva break free from the chains that bind her to this world?
MARA brings together the depth of Eastern philosophy, aesthetics of Indian classical arts, and dynamism of Western stagecraft and music. On a deeper level, MARA carries a message whose relevance traverses boundaries of culture, age, geography, and time. MARA is about life, perception, transformation, and self-discovery. It is about each one of us.

4. #HumansofSynergy: 40 years in the making
From a small group of passionate young dancers who formed the Jazz Ballet Group, NUS Dance Synergy has evolved into a contemporary group of confident dancers who are committed to honing their craft.
What makes a dance group endure changes in the lives of its members through time as well as changes in the environment around it, and yet maintain a sense of attachment among its generations of members?
The dancer becomes the focus of this unique celebration of contemporary dance in NUS and Singapore in works created by Albert Tiong, Yarra Ileto and alumni dancer, Lydia Lam.

5. Opera Weekend – Two blind beggars by Offenbach
Two “blind” beggars compete for the best spot to busk for money. This leads to a musical battle between Zacharia and Ms Buffles, followed by a game of cards to see who is the blinder one.
Directed by Tan Jia Yee, this mini opera is brought to life by Soprano Phoebe Chee and Tenor Jeremy Koh, with music accompaniment by pianist Jonelle Lim.
