If you aren't aware yet, eating is a national hobby in Singapore. This is aided by the fact that the diverse cultures living here all take their cuisines seriously – and so this weekend, you are in for a treat!
With the 50 Cents Fest 2019 happening in Chinatown and Great Indian Food Fest taking place in Campbell Lane, foodies will be spoilt for choice. But these two places are quite close to each other, so you may not need to even decide between them.

1. Aatmadarsa – Through the Looking-Glass
Just as Carnatic musician Muthuswami Dikshitar was inspired by Scottish and Irish tunes and fashioned the Nottuswara collection, Anglo-Irish composer William Hamilton Bird collected Indian songs and melodies and published them with arrangements for voice and keyboard.
This concert features some of the two composers’ works from the 18th century, bringing you a closer look at how the Indians and the British saw each other’s music.

2. Bharatham 2019 Grand Final – Indian Classical Dance Competition
Organised by Toa Payoh West CC IAEC, this Bharathanatyam competition is also an occasion for the community to get together and mingle! Vegetarian refreshment will be served.

This annual festival takes a deep dive into the roots of the Hokkien Chinese, which constitute around two-fifths of the ethnic Chinese population in Singapore. So head down to enjoy the most authentic Hokkien flavours and experiences!

4. Great Indian Food Fest 2019
The 10-day event, which began on July 20, will showcase the rich history, culture and evolution of Little India since the beginning days. There will be 16 food carts set up along Campbell Lane, serving up long lost dishes.
A guided heritage hawker food trail will also be happening on July 26.

5. Rani Singam and Chok Kerong
Two of the most compelling and engaging performers on the scene, Rani Singam and Chok Kerong appear together on this special platform.
Dubbed as “Singapore’s first lady of jazz”, Rani Singam is one of the most sought-after and accomplished contemporary vocalists today; while Chok Kerong has established himself as one of Singapore’s most versatile jazz talents on the piano.
The duo will perform standards and their original compositions in what promises to be a magical and exciting evening.
