Facebook and IMDA jointly launch start-up programme

Facebook has partnered the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) to launch a joint programme to support data-driven start-ups in Singapore and around the region. 

Startup Station Singapore is a six-months programme, and aims to take in between eight and 12 start-ups in the pioneer batch, according to a report by Todayonline. 

The programme begins in next February, with applications beginning on Tuesday, Oct 2.

It will offer mentorship opportunities with employees from Facebook and experts, as well free access to Facebook’s tools and services for start-ups. The tech giant will also be providing training for participants, to help them advance and grow their businesses.

During the course of the programme, start-ups can make use of rent-free space at Pixel, IMDA’s innovation facility located at one-north. IMDA will also be facilitating a regulatory sandbox for the participating start-ups.

Mr Tan Kiat How,​ IMDA's chief executive, said that partnering Facebook will “enrich our start-up ecosystem by bringing (the company’s) expertise in key digital economy areas such as artificial intelligence, product innovation and data protection with a global approach”.
