EXCLUSIVE: Babil Khan unmasks the influencer illusion in Logout

In a stark contrast to his on-screen roles thus far, actor Babil Khan will portray an influencer in the upcoming film Logout, which is set to release on ZEE5 Global on April 18.

As Pratyush Dua, a popular influencer, Babil will face his worst follower and battle challenging circumstances as he races to regain control of his life.

Ahead of the premiere, I caught up with Babil for an exclusive Spotlight chat, catching up on the film and other topics, including his latest achievement that saw him match steps with the great Irrfan, his late father.

“The skeleton of the film is based upon our use of phone and how it becomes like a body part of us on social media,” Babil shares, when asked about the premise of Logout. “But the truth about the soul of the character of Logout is his need, his desire for external validation. How he sacrifices his self-worth and self-love for an image that is based upon the opinions of others, and he attaches his identity to that and then forgets about the difference between the two.”

The film shows what happens when that image is “taken away” from the main character, played by Babil.

Talking about why he chose to do the film, the 26-year-old says the message of the film will remain evergreen as it deals with external validation, which has always been a part of the system.

Directed by Amit Golani and written by Biswapati Sarkar, the Logout promises a dynamic mix of tension and drama. Apart from Babil, the film also features Rasika Dugal, Nimisha Nair, and Gandharv Dewan in pivotal roles.
