COVID-19 cases in Singapore cross 16,000 with 528 new infections on April 30

COVID-19 cases in Singapore have risen to 16,169 with the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirming 528 new infections as of 12 pm on April 30.

There were no imported cases and nine cases in the local community.  

The number of new cases in the community continued to decreased, from an average of 25 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 14 per day in the past week, MOH said in a statement.

The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 17 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 7 per day in the past week.

The main increase today continues to be for Work Permit holders residing in dormitories, where many more cases are getting picked up because of extensive testing.

Most of these cases have a mild illness and are being monitored in the community isolation facilities or general ward of our hospitals. Three are in the intensive care unit (ICU), MOH added.
