Birthday wishes pour in for PM Modi from across the world

Indians across the globe, world leaders, celebrities and others wished Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 69th birthday on Tuesday. Modi will be spending his day in his home state Gujarat and visited the Statue of Unity on the Narmada river in the morning and shared a video on social media.

While #happybirthdaynarendramodi topped the chart in the India trends with biggies like Amul using the hashtag to mark the special day, #HappyBirthdayPM and #ShriNarendraModi was trending on 2nd and 5th positions respectively.

His itinerary on his birthday includes a visit to the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada river to kickoff the 'Namami Narmade' festival. After visiting the dam site at Kevadiya, the prime minister would address a gathering and inspect some ongoing developmental projects near the dam.

Later in the day, Modi will also meet his mother, Hiraben, to seek her blessings. The prime minister is also expected to visit the temple of Lord Dattatreya at Garudeshwar village near Kevadiya.

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama was among many who wished Modi on his birthday.

"As a long time guest of India, and as someone who cares deeply about this country, I congratulate you on the growing confidence you have brought about. India's success not only benefits the people of India but also greatly contributes to the development of the world as a whole," he said.
