Hard-hitting crime drama ‘Bastar: The Naxal Story’ will release on OTT in May. Produced by Sunshine Pictures Pvt Ltd, the movie will stream on ZEE5 Global from May 17.
The film, inspired by true events, revolves around the Naxal insurgency in the Indian state Chhattisgarh and the extraordinary efforts of a single police officer to quell the threat. Along with Adah Sharma, the movie also features Indira Tiwari, Vijay Krishna, Shilpa Shukla, Yashpal Sharma, Subrat Dutta, and Raima Sen in prominent roles.
The movie is directed by Sudipto Sen, who earlier made The Kerala Story, which also featured Adah Sharma in the lead.
Bastar: The Naxal Story will be available in Hindi and Telugu.
Speaking about her experience, Adah Sharma said, “Bastar is a powerful film that tackles a sensitive and important issue. Director Sudipto Sen spoke about the challenging yet rewarding experience he had while making the film. “We aimed to present a very realistic side of the Naxal conflict, drawing inspiration from real-life events and characters.,” Sen said. The filmmaker also praised Sharma and other cast members for their acting, which made the project “even more interesting and convincing”.
“Making ‘Bastar’ was very important for me; it is something I have felt, lived, and understood since my childhood. While the subject matter is intense, we hope this film encourages dialogue and understanding about this terrifying issue,” Sen added.
