Indian PM Narendra Modi on Saturday appreciated Donald Trump for the ongoing peace efforts in Gaza, with Hamas accepting the US President’s 20-point peace plan.
In his X post, Modi wrote: “We welcome President Trump’s leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress. Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward.”
“India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hamas has agreed to release all remaining Israeli hostages.
The group is reportedly seeking further negotiations on a number of issues outlined in the US’ Gaza peace plan.
Trump has asked Israel to ‘immediately stop’ bombing Gaza.
“Based on the Statement just issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting PEACE. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the Hostages out safely and quickly! Right now, it’s far too dangerous to do that. We are already in discussions on details to be worked out. This is not about Gaza alone, this is about long sought PEACE in the Middle East,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Hamas remarked after Trump delivered a stark ultimatum to Hamas, demanding the Palestinian group accept his 20-point Gaza peace plan by 6 p.m. Washington, D.C. time on Sunday or face “all HELL, like no one has ever seen before.”
In a post on TruthSocial, Trump said: “Hamas has been a ruthless and violent threat, for many years, in the Middle East! They have killed (and made lives unbearably miserable), culminating with the October 7th MASSACRE, in Israel, babies, woman, children, old people, and many young men and women, boys and girls, getting ready to celebrate their future lives together.”
