Walk for Hope 2025, the 6km charity fundraiser walkathon that also salutes #SG60, was flagged off early today by Chief Guest Alvin Tan, Singapore Minister of State and MP for Tanjong Pagar GRC. The starting point was St. Joseph’s Institution (SJI), Singapore.

Giving a big shoutout to the initiative and its main organiser Ray of Hope, the minister posted on Instagram: “Flagged off Walk for Hope early this morning at SJI! Walk for Hope is a fundraiser for Ray of Hope, a crowdfunding charity for underserved communities. Every step we take supports Ray of Hope’s vital work helping those in crisis, like seniors, single parents, children, and migrant workers.”

St. Joseph’s Institution was the lead partner for the walkathon, and many SJI students and faculty members participated in the walk.

The Singapore-headquartered media brand Connected to India and the creative agency Huddl were the media partners at the event. Walk for Hope 2025 was also supported by Singapore-based fitness groups Trekkers@Heart and Wednesday Walkers.

Ray of Hope, St. Joseph’s Institution, and Connected to India were represented by Mark Wong, Chairman, Ray of Hope; Dr Alicia Altorfer-Ong, Executive Director, Ray of Hope; Justin Arul Pierre, Principal, St. Joseph’s Institution; and Himanshu Verma, CEO, Connected to India and Huddl.

Minister Alvin Tan, who also walked along with other participants, wrote in his Instagram post: “Through Ray of Hope, we walk for a cause that embodies hope itself. Hope does not disappoint, and as a nation, our hope has laid the foundation for Singapore’s progress. Hope is possible with action and people who execute with action, and today, our collective action is turning hope into a reality.”

He finished the post by thanking “Mark, Alicia, Himanshu and Justin, for making hope a reality and an action today!”

Funds from the walkathon were raised by the registration fees paid by individual participants; peer-to-peer fundraising by the walkathon participants or supporters; and donations from several corporate sponsors.

A number of past beneficiaries of Ray of Hope joined the walkathon and volunteered at the event to pay it forward to society.
