Walk for Hope 2025, the fundraiser walkathon in Singapore, is just a week away, and young people, who represent the future of every nation, will be at the centre of it.
St Joseph’s Institution (SJI), Singapore, has partnered with the crowdfunding charity Ray of Hope in organising this walk, and who better than the school’s Student Council President Putt Sawasmongkol to say why every youth participant in this walkathon can make a “positive difference in the lives of others”?
Exhorting the SJI community to take part in Walk for Hope 2025, Putt says: “As student leaders, we are called to step up and serve both the school and the wider community. Our school’s partnership with Ray of Hope offers all of us a unique opportunity to do so. The SJI community has so much potential to do good for both the school and the wider community. And as student leaders, it’s our job to rally the community for causes like this, and make a positive difference in the lives of others.”
Walk for Hope 2025, starting at 7am on August 2, covers a distance of 6km, marking six decades in the amazing story that is Singapore. Guest of Honour at Walk for Hope 2025 is Alvin Tan, Minister of State, Ministry of Trade & Industry and Ministry of National Development.

St Joseph’s Institution, with its many athletic achievements — students have made the school proud with wins in a variety of sports, such as football, tennis, karate, sailing and more — is the ideal partner in an event that brings fitness and a funding drive together.

Two more SJI students have given a hearty shoutout to Walk for Hope 2025. And their past projects have proved that they walk the talk.
Akkile Joseph started a migrant workers cricket tournament in 2024 in partnership with Ray of Hope, with guidance from his teachers and also from the Ray of Hope team. In 2025, he is set to walk with a firm purpose on August 2.
Pirathap Cindmyan was part of the cricket project started by Akkile last year, and this year he is very happy that Ray of Hope is back to collaborate with SJI for the walkathon.
This is not just about walking, but walking with a purpose
Reminding students that Walk for Hope 2025 starts at “our very own SJI” on August 2, Putt says with a smile, “See you guys there.”
Organised by Ray of Hope, Singapore’s only crowdfunding charity focused on emerging and unmet social needs, Walk for Hope 2025 is a statement — it says that young people care about the world, the nation, their society, and that they can bring light to someone else’s darkness.
When Putt asks his fellow SJI students to join the charity walkathon, he speaks as a changemaker. He believes that when young people unite, they don’t just raise funds — they raise awareness, they raise their communities, and they raise each other.
