Singapore Indian Fine Arts Society (SIFAS) is organising its annual Open House to welcome new members and students to its fold on January 24 and 24, 2021.
From soulful musical performances in the morning to scintillating dances in the evening, a visual arts exhibition to feast your eyes, and a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet our esteemed gurus, for an in-depth insight into 15 disciplines and three short-term courses, the event will highlight all that SIFAS has to offer to interested people.
During the Open House, parents and students are usually shown around classrooms and meet with tutors.
“Music, dance and art all reside within us. The Open House creates an opportunity to open the door, helps you discover your latent interests, and gives you a chance to learn,” said KV Rao, president, SIFAS.
The open house will be held under COVID-19 precautions, including:
- Monitoring the in-flow of people by making them pre-register
- Allowing a maximum of 250 people within SIFAS premises at one time
- During the programme, complying with social distancing rules on stage as well as among the audience.
- Allocating separate locations for the programmes and the registrations, so that there is less chances of congestion
“The SIFAS open house is a showcase of that blissful talent that we feel the artist in everyone of you should give an opportunity to realise their fullest potential. We invite you to come and immerse yourself in what is one of the greatest achievement of any civilisation – its art,” said Puneet Pushkarna, vice-president, publicity, SIFAS.
Some promotions are valid only for this weekend, including a SGD 100 registration fee waiver for all new students enrolling into SIFAS; a SGD 100 voucher for current students who refer their friends; an exclusive, newly-launched SIFAS tote bag for current students who join an additional discipline.
Krishnan Srinivasan, vice-president, SIFAS Academy said it is Singapore’s pioneer academy in imparting the knowledge of Indian classical music, dance, and visual arts.
“The open house gives tutors a chance to gain prospective parents' support, create a personal connection with them, and establish ways for continued communication throughout the year,” he added.
Founded in 1949, SIFAS’ philosophy is portrayed in its motto in Sanskrit, which states: ‘Kala Samskrithi Lakshanam’ – art characterises civilisation.
The academy offers a pan-Indian curriculum of 15 disciplines that reflects the cultural diversity of the nation’s ancient heritage. The academy has 28 tutors who have developed home-grown talents and created an awareness and understanding of the Indian cultural heritage, particularly valuable in the multi-ethnic Singapore.
