Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed an additional 548 cases of COVID-19 infection as of 12pm on May 24, bringing the national tally to 31,616.
Majority of the new cases continue to among Work Permit holders residing in dormitories, including in factory-converted dormitories, due to extensive testing in these premises. Of these, 99 per cent are linked to known clusters.
There were four new cases in the local community, of which three are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents.
MOH also noted in its press statement that the cluster at Strand Hotel (25 Bencoolen Street) has been closed as there have been no more cases linked to it for the past two incubation periods 28 days.
Meanwhile, 994 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
There are currently 690 confirmed cases who are still in hospital. Of these, most are stable or improving, and 8 are in critical condition in the intensive care unit, MOH said. 16,027 are isolated and cared for at community facilities. These are those who have mild symptoms, or are clinically well but still test positive for COVID-19.
