5 best places in Singapore to countdown to 2020

If you are looking for some live fireworks action for the countdown to the new year on December 31, here are some not-so-secret places to catch the best views (for free)!

1. Esplanade Waterfront

The entire stretch of the riverside at the Esplanade Waterfront area is an awesome and  accessible place to catch the countdown fireworks.

The Esplanade Outdoor Theatre will also have a special five-hour long countdown programme from 7.00 pm, featuring artistes Hillary Francis, Joe & The Soul Express and MOTUS ringing in the new year with celebrity host Timothy Nga.

2. Helix Bridge and Benjamin Sheares Bridge

While these two places offer a splendid view of the fireworks, you will need to head down early to secure a good spot before the crowds come in. Come prepared with your picnic mat and some chips!

3. Merlion Park and The Fullerton Hotel

Usher in the new year alongside the iconic Merlion! This is a popular spot, so be prepared for throngs of other viewers. The Fullerton Hotel, ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands and the Merlion will all light up with dazzling light shows as well, so you're in for a treat!

The Bay East Garden at the Gardens By The Bay is where you can enjoy panoramic views of the fireworks, flanked by Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer. Your photos are going to be stunning!

5. Unwind @ Civic District: Pets Pawty

Why only you? Let your pets enjoy the countdown the countdown to 2020 as well and this is where you can bring your furry friends along for the fun! Connaught Drive near Esplanade Park will be transformed into a pets’ carnival from as early as 4.00 pm.

There will be an all-day picnic area and a line-up of pet activities and competitions such as an agility park, obstacle race and a doggy free-run area.
