The Ministry of Health reported 451 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of 12 pm on June 10. This brings the national tally of infections to 38,965.
The vast majority of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories. 98 per cent of them are linked to known clusters.
There are also seven cases in the community, of which three are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents and four are Work Pass holders.
Among the three Singaporeans/Permanent Residents, one is a household contact of a previously confirmed case, and had already been quarantined. Another is a security guard at a dormitory at 31 Sungei Kadut Avenue, and was proactively tested as part of our screening of persons working at dormitories. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing for the remaining case.
All four Work Pass/ Work Permit holders are asymptomatic and were detected them from our active surveillance and screening. Among them, two were tested due to our proactive screening of workers in essential services, and another was swabbed as he works as a security guard at Hai Leck Engineering Pte Ltd (12 Tuas Drive 1), an active cluster.
The remaining case is a housemate of previously confirmed cases, and had already been quarantined in a government quarantine facility earlier.
Meanwhile, 655 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
