Three Indian-origin students were killed in a car crash in the US state of Georgia, and two were injured. Police suspect that speeding was behind the fatal mishap.

All the three killed were reportedly 18 years old. One of them went to Alpharetta High School (with graduation just around the corner), and two others to the University of Georgia. The accident took place on May 14, but details have just been released.

As per the police information, the driver of the speeding vehicle lost control, skidded off the road, and then vehicle overturned and hit a tree line.

Among those killed, Sriya Avasarala and Aryan Joshi died on the spot, and Anvi Sharma died later at the hospital.

The injured students, named Rithwak Somepalli and Mohammed Liyakath, received treatment at the North Fulton Hospital in Alpharetta.

According to media reports, Sriya Avasarala was part of the UGA Shikaari dance team; Anvi Sharma sang with UGA Kalakaar; and Aryan Joshi played high school cricket.

Social media pages of their groups posted online tributes after their death. Joshi was set to graduate just a few days after the accident killed him. His cricket team posted online: “He was one of our biggest supporters and his support was one of the most crucial factors in all our wins.”
