West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle thanks PM Narendra Modi for COVID-19 vaccines

West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for donating coronavirus vaccines to Jamaica.

"PM Modi, the Government of India and the people of India, I want to thank you all for your donation of the vaccine to Jamaica. We appreciate it," said the Universe Boss, as he is known, in a short video tweeted by the Indian High Commission in Jamaica.

Gayle is the second Windies cricketer, after Andre Russell, to thank India for sending 50,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Jamaica.

Gayle also met with Indian High Commissioner R Masakui at the High Commission on Thursday.

India sent the vaccine doses as part of its Vaccine Maitri initiative which works towards helping other countries in their fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
