The teaser of the Akshay Kumar starrer Gold is out. It starts with Hum ek pagal Bengali hai, hum hockey se pyaar karta hai (I am a mad Bengali who loves hockey) and further highlights India's first Olympic Gold Medal win at the London Olympics in 1948.
The film is based on the life of Balbir Singh, played by Akshay Kumar, who led the country to victory in hockey that year.
Gold marks the Bollywood debut of television actor Mouni Roy. Kai Po Che! fame Amit Sadh is seen playing hockey during the trailer as well. The film also features Kunal Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar.
The Indian sports drama is directed by Reema Kagti, produced under the banner of Excel Entertainment and internationally distributed by Zee Studios International.
The film is slated to release on Independence Day, August 15, 2018.
Akshay Kumar’s much-talked PadMan, produced by wife Twinkle Khanna, is set to release this week on February 9. The actor has 2018’s much-anticipated robotic drama 2.0 in the pipeline, starring with superstar Rajinikanth.
