WATCH: Passengers turn Goa Airport into Navratri ground with Garba dance

Navratri celebrations are known for bringing people together in dance and music, and this spirit travelled all the way to Goa airport on Sunday evening. Passengers of a Surat-bound flight, delayed for several hours, turned the waiting area into a lively Garba ground, with even airline staff joining the festivities.

The flight, originally scheduled to depart for Surat at 5 pm, was held back due to a technical issue. Many on board were eager to reach Surat in time for the Navratri revelry, a festival marked by nine nights of Garba and devotion to goddess Durga. As the wait grew longer, passengers decided not to let the delay spoil their festive mood.

What began with clapping and humming soon transformed into a full Garba performance inside the terminal. Music was arranged on speakers, and travellers formed circles, twirling and moving in rhythm to traditional beats.

Videos from the scene show a man urging the dancers to expand their circle so that more people could join, while others in the waiting area cheered and recorded the celebration on their phones.

Airline staff, too, stepped into the circle, tapping their feet alongside passengers, adding to the festive energy. The unusual celebration quickly caught attention online, with clips of the dance going viral across social media platforms.

For many travellers, the unexpected Garba at Goa airport turned a long delay into a memorable evening, capturing the infectious joy of Navratri far from its traditional setting in Gujarat.
