Sri Lanka: Road mishap in Sabaragamuwa Province kills 50-year-old woman

A 50-year-old woman died and 10 other passengers were hurt after a bus collided head-on with a lorry in Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa Province on Wednesday.

According to media reports, the accident took place in Warakapola town of Kegalle District.

Police told Daily Mirror that the bus travelling towards Alawwa from Ambepussa collided with a cement-laden lorry coming from the opposite direction.

The injured passengers were rushed to Warakapola Hospital for treatment.

The deceased woman succumbed to her injuries at the medical facility later.

Police said three injured people were later moved to National Hospital in the country's capital city Colombo.

The lorry driver has been arrested.
