Two Indian women were arrested at Singapore’s Changi Airport for allegedly stealing items from multiple stores while transiting through the airport. The incident took place on June 2 and was reported by the Singapore Police in a statement issued on June 9.

According to the police, the case began when a suspected theft was reported from a Furla outlet located in the departure transit area of Terminal 3 at around 2.25pm.
Officers from the Airport Police Division reviewed CCTV footage and managed to identify and locate the two women within an hour.
The women, aged 29 and 30 were detained before they could leave the country. The younger woman was found with the stolen purse from the Furla store, while a black haversack and a bottle of perfume were discovered in the luggage of the older woman.

Preliminary investigations suggest that these items were also stolen. The total value of the three stolen items is about SGD 635.
The two women are expected to be charged in court on Tuesday, June 10, for theft in dwelling. If found guilty, they could face imprisonment of up to seven years, a fine, or both.
Police said they would continue working with stakeholders and the community to prevent and deter shop theft at the airport.
In a similar incident in May, a British man was arrested at Changi Airport for allegedly stealing items worth more than SGD 2,900.
