Following reports of a severe pneumonia outbreak originating from Wuhan in China, Singapore is on high alert for any suspected cases entering the country.
Temperature screening measures will be put up at Changi Airport from the evening of Friday, January 3, for inbound flights arriving from Wuhan, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Suspected cases will be referred to hospitals for further assessment.
In a press statement, MOH advised those who have travelled to Wuhan to monitor their health closely and seek medical attention promptly if they feel unwell.
Medical practitioners in Singapore have also been told to look out for suspected cases of pneumonia from those who have recently travelled to the area.
As of Thursday, there were no suspected cases of pneumonia cases from Wuhan.
Those who have symptoms of a fever and acute respiratory illness, or with pneumonia and with a travel history to Wuhan within 14 days before the onset of symptoms, are treated as suspected cases. They will be isolated as a precautionary measure to prevent transmission.
